Long Termer Buddy Finds A Home
March 31st, 2017 9:31 pm

All adoptions are special, but some just touch our hearts more than others, especially when one of our long termers finds a home.
Buddy's 2 & 1/2 year wait for a loving home came to an end as he began his new life in Mountain Rest SC. Buddy will be the only child of a retired couple who were taken by his story and then his charms, as he introduced himself during his home visit. Buddy has been greatly loved by the CSHS staff and volunteers throughout his very long wait for his happily ever after. His gentle, funny ways and Texas sized grin will be missed. Buddy was one of a kind and he was s...

Bentley Gets Long-Awaited Adoption
March 31st, 2017 8:56 pm

Bentley was a special resident at our shelter, unfortunately, for far too long.  A very sweet and friendly guy, Bentley kept being overlooked by visitor after visitor.  Maybe because he was a black dog, which is often the last to be adopted at shelters...(We don't know why - they are beautiful!  Just statistically true).  Maybe because he was a big guy. Maybe because it just took awhile for the right person to see him and be matched.  Finally, after 15 long months. Bentley was adopted by a loving family.  We had always said he was practically perfect, but occasionally we are corrected...

Stranger Becomes A Therapy Dog for her Mom!
March 31st, 2017 8:26 pm
Alumni update: Stranger
Shelter supporters will have to pull on their memories to bring forward Stranger. This regal pup was adopted in 2011. He is being trained as a seizure support service dog for his mom. Shelter dogs rock!
This is what Tina, Stranger's mom, had to say about her furbaby: "Stranger is loved so much and is soooo happy. He completed our family. He helps me so much every day with just coping with epelipsy. Thank you for helping us get him. He's truly a blessing to me."  Now that is a perfect match!
Ella Gives Life To 9 Puppies And Finally Gets Her Forever Home
March 31st, 2017 8:02 pm

We love these happy stories, and this one is special:
In 2015 Shadow - now Ella - was seen alongside a busy highway, panting and staggering under the weight of an advanced pregnancy. She came into the shelter, which was not equipped to handle what was expected to be a large litter. With the financial help of supporters, Ella went to our servicing clinic where she soon delivered 9 fat, healthy, gorgeous puppies. She and her babies spent 8 weeks under the care of the clinic made possible by donations of a caring community. Each pup was safely placed into the most amazing families, where t...

Roxie Gets The Best Valentine's Gift Ever
March 31st, 2017 7:52 pm
Roxie was 3 weeks old and still nursing when she came to the shelter with her mother last April. The pretty girl waited many days and kitty chatted to many visitors in hopes that one of them would choose her. Persistence and charm has paid off, and Roxie got the best Valentine's gift she could get, in the form of a new home and loving family.  Roxie is now tucked away in Sautee for a long awaited happily ever after.
