When Bob, a rescue dog that Jim and Dianna Wagner had for 14 years, died at age 16, it seemed to leave a big hole in the home, even though they had another dog, a coon hound named Rufus, in the house. So, after a family conference, they decided to go to the Charles Smithgall Humane Society shelter to rescue another dog and fill that hole as well. They spotted Chevy, a retriever mix puppy who was there with his litter sister.
They picked Chevy, whom they later renamed Luke, after much family conversation because he was so affectionate, happy and intelligent.
