Sweet Annie Has a Way of Capturing Hearts
September 4th, 2017 3:02 pm

Annie and at least one other dog are alive today because Annie is so supersweet that she captured the hearts of two Charles Smithgall Humane Society board members which led to her forever home.
White County Animal Control requested that Smithgall come over and look over the dogs at the pound and said if
Smithgall couldn't take two off its hands, two dogs would have to be euthanized because of overcrowding.
Smithgall Board Member Glenda Worley went over to the pound and Annie immediately stood out from all the others. She had been found lying in the middle of the road, emaciated and weak. ":All dogs are sweet to me," said Glenda, "but Annie was just so supersweet and calm. She just lay there staring at us while the other dogs were going wild. Freckles Has Really Settled in New Home
August 31st, 2017 8:57 pm
Freckles is "having a ball" with her new owner, Deborah Beddingfield, our daughter. And we're also elated with Freckles. She has adapted so well and traveled with us to NC so well. We'll take her for a 1- mile walk tomorrow and almost every day which she really seems to enjoy. She's already met her vet and she visited the local Petco with Deborah and Marilyn yesterday. She sleeps all night on the floor next to Deborah's bed and is 100% housebroken.

You were so good to us: Jenna, Kathi, and all the other staff at Charles Smithgall Humane Society. We're eternally grateful to you for matching us with Freckles. We can't thank you enough! But we'll try.

Love, Reid and Marilyn Hinson

Sandy Stood Out from All the Rest
August 20th, 2017 5:15 pm

Steven Barnett was not really in the market for a pet until Sandy worked her way into his heart and he adopted her from the Charles Smithgall Humane Society Shelter.
Steven worked with a nearby addiction treatment center which would bring patients over to the shelter a few times a week to interact with the animals. They would often walk the different dogs and get to know them.
To him, Sandy was special and stood out from all the others. She was a bit timid, but showed a lot of affection as she got to know him. She had a calm demeanor about her and didn't  bark a lot and seemed very gentle. Steve would sometimes come to the shelter by himself just to visit this special dog. He had to install a fence and get rid of some of the poison ivy in his yard in order to adopt her. She  settled right into her home life with him. Steve and Sandy love to take walks toget...
