HAPPY ENDINGS
Tails Of The Month...
Our Canines of the Month were Maxx & Patsy, and they've ended up being our Happy Tails story, too!  This is what we said about them:
We have two wonderful senior Boxers named Patsy and Maxx who have spent their whole lives together.  They are devoted to each other and the best-behaved canines you could ask for.  They need a loving home to spend their golden years in.
Well, we're very, very happy to say that both Patsy & Maxx were adopted together by 2 wonderful people -  Marg & Adam Morrow!  We think all 4 of them are going to be very, very happy!  We look forward to future 'tails' about Maxx & Patsy, and are grateful to Marg & Adam for extending their loving home to include 2 more!
Marg Morrow & her son Adam, with new family members, Maxx & Patsy!

Some Info About Our Animal Adoption Center
Melissa Bonner is our new Manager,
and we welcome her! We are grateful to have such a caring and experienced person in charge of our animals and our shelter. Melissa, Carl, and our staff volunteers are all wonderful people with big hearts, and they work tirelessly to make our Adoption Center pleasant, not only for our animals, but our visitors, too! We’ve long been known for having a very clean facility,
and work very hard to keep it that way. But we want it to be a fun place, too!

When you visit, PLEASE WATCH THE DOOR, entering and exiting - we have quite a few little “greeters” around – dogs & cats, that is! Be sure to say “Hello” to our resident cats, Otis & Layla. Otis has routinely been called ‘the biggest cat in the world’ by many of our visitors, and everyone loves his sweet disposition. Layla came to us and bonded with Otis, so she is now a permanent resident, as well.

Please consider adoption very carefully! We would love to have all our animals adopted, but we want to place them in loving, fur-ever homes! Here are some things to consider, when thinking about adopting a new pet:

$5.50 toward Heartworm test**
$10 toward Feline Leukemia Test**

NOTE:
* - Many of our Adoption Center animals will have their rabies shot already. The puppies & kittens usually aren’t fixed, and also do not get a rabies shots until after 3 mos., so you will get their rabies shot from your vet, who will register it with the State. Georgia Law requires that your cat or dog have a rabies shot. If the pet already has a rabies shot, we will have a tag for you.

** - Most of our Adoption Center animals will already be spayed or neutered, but most puppies, kittens, and some adults will not be fixed.  Because we do not have a veterinarian on site, we can only give a credit toward what your vet will charge. This credit goes directly to the vet and you pay the balance, if there’s a difference in price. If there are any questions, we would be happy to explain this to you further, or call your vet; however, this is standard procedure.  Optional partial test costs (heartworm test for dogs or feline leukemia test for cats) are included in adoption price.

The Inside Scoop

It has been very busy at the Adoption Center!

We can use volunteers to help groom our pets.  Please call or stop by the Adoption Center if you can spare any time to help groom the pets;  this is something we could do after hours, too!
As always, we need people to walk our dogs and socialize all our pets. Some animals come to us and aren’t housebroken or used to a leash, and you can help teach them these things, or simple commands. Sometimes a shy pet will have an abusive history, and just needs someone to spend time with him or her, to learn that people are safe and friendly. Just taking one of these pets and sitting with them in the beginning, goes a long way toward raising their confidence!

On the other side, we have those pets who are excited and just want to burn off some energy. Playing toss or Frisbee can give them that release, and walking them not only gives them a chance to do their business, but teaches them that it’s a good thing, and works off energy, too!

There are lots of odd jobs and things that we could use volunteers for right now. Some are simple repair tasks, so if you’re a handyman and want to lend that hand, please call us or stop by – we’d love the help!  There is also some light moving of supplies and organization of things needed, too.  Just stop by and ask what you can do to help - there is always something buzzing in the Adoption Center!

Please contact the Animal Adoption Center if you can help, and make sure you fill out one of our Volunteer Applications, either online or at our Adoption Center.
